Pushing ahead: The next four years

Accessibility and equality in all domains of life — but especially the arts — is something I care very deeply about. I’m so proud to be on the board of The Push, and even prouder of our 4-year organisational strategy we’ve just launched. (In case you weren’t aware, The Push is an Aussie youth music organisation and registered charity with the mission to ensure young people’s access to music whether it be as an artist, industry professional or fan.)

As a board, we spent many an hour IRL at The Push’s beautiful home at Collingwood Yards and just as many on Zoom discussing and debating the details of this strategy to get it just right. The key goals we’ve set ourselves for the next few years are:

  • Give 140,000 young people the opportunity to attend a safe and accessible, all-ages live music event

  • Support more than 10,000 young people with access to skills and networks through our education and training programs

  • Generate more than $1 million in new revenue across the organisation through partnerships, products and service fees

  • Implement our first Reconciliation Action Plan and achieve increased representation of First Nations young people across our staff, governance and programs

  • Increase our organisational awareness and online engagement, maintaining a 'forever young' audience nationally

  • Have 50% of our Board of Management positions occupied by young people

I love how ambitious it is ($1M in new revenue!), and how young people are truly at the centre of it all. It’s also been a great learning experience watching our first Reconciliation Action Plan in action, and I can’t wait to see this realised.
